BCHL Friday: Exhibition season underway

The BCHL kicked off its exhibition with 6 games Friday night; winners included Cowichan Valley, Surrey, Trail, Alberni Valley, Williams Lake and Penticton.

The Cowichan Valley Capitals were victorious 7-2 over the Nanaimo Clippers in Fuller Lake. Alex Halloran netted a hat-track to pace the Capitals while Kyle Yamasaki scored once and added a helper for the Clippers.

Troy Patterson recorded two assists to lead the Surrey Eagles to a 3-0 shutout victory over the Langley Chiefs. Vinny Lessard turned aside all 20 shots in net for the Eagles.

In Trail, the Smoke Eaters dismantled the visiting Brooks Bandits 7-1. Darnell Dyck had 3 assists while Riley Loyst lit the lamp twice. Chad Katunar made 17 saves on 18 shots to register the win.

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs travelled to Victoria and escaped with a 7-5 win over the host Grizzlies. The Bulldogs spread their offense around having 7 different skaters register a goal while Evan Campbell and Spencer Copp each scored twice for Victoria in a losing effort.

The Williams Lake Timberwolves made their return to the BCHL on a winning note, handing the visiting Quesnel Millionaires a 5-2 defeat. Jesse Bachmeier and Kyle Leung lit the lamp once while both adding an assist to lead the T-Wolves. Spencer Grabowski notched a goal and a helper for the Mills.

Finally, the Penticton Vees defeated the Powell River Kings 7-3 in an afternoon tilt in Trail, B.C. More action to come Saturday night, check back at www.bchl.bc.ca for more up to date information.
