Jason Yee scored 1:59 into the first overtime to send the Powell River Kings to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Penticton Vees on Friday evening.

The low-scoring clash remained scoreless until late in the second period when Ben Schmidt scored shorthanded off a Mitch Labreche feed. Alex Szczechura evened the game at the 5:27 mark of the third period, but the Vees couldn't put another of their 12 shots in the period past Kings starter Josh Watson.

Yee's winner came early in the first overtime when he converted a set-up from Andrew Pettitt to beat Joel Rumpel.

Watson was named the game's first star after making 32 saves in the win, while Rumpel faced 31 shots in defeat.

The Vees continue their Coastal road swing on Saturday with a visit to Burnaby, while Powell River travels to the Lower Mainland for an encounter with the Coastal Conference leading Surrey Eagles.
