Capitals hot on offence, score 5 unanswered to top Cents

The Cowichan Valley Capitals received a welcome injection of offence on Friday night, scoring a half dozen goals -- including five unanswered in the second and third periods -- to top the Merritt Centennials by a 6-3 margin.

Mitch Jones opened the scoring for Merritt, who held 1-0 and 2-1 leads in the game. But a five goal rally that included markers from Curtis Gedig, Rajan Sidhu, Anthony Perdicaro, Nick Anderson and Taylor Paziuk swung the game in favour of the home side.

Jordan Soquila scored midway through the third period to bring Merritt within three but they would come no closer.

Alex Peck picked up the win for Cowichan Valley with a 24-save performance, while Cole Holowenko and Riley Wall split time between the pipes for the Centennials.

Merritt's next stop on their Vancouver Island road swing takes them to Victoria on Saturday evening, while the Capitals remain on home ice and await a visit from the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
